Kern County Policy/Procedures Manual
The Policy/Procedures Manual contains official policies and procedures adopted by the Kern County Board of Supervisors for the conduct of County operations and personnel.

Civil Service Rules
County employment is governed by the Civil Service Commission, which is a nonpartisan public commission providing policy direction and oversight of the system of selecting and promoting civil service employees. The commission carries out its powers and duties within the guidelines of adopted rules.

Title 3 of Kern County Ordinance Codes
Kern County Ordinances are laws adopted by the people of Kern County and by the Board of Supervisors. Title 3 contains laws governing the hiring, promotion, discipline, and termination of County employees as well as County employee compensation.

Equal Employment Opportunity Plan
The County of Kern's formalized plan of policies and procedures to ensure equal employment opportunity to all persons and to eliminate discrimination from County employment practices was initially adopted by the Board of Supervisors in 1973 and was amended in 1985 and in 2001.

Employee Handbook
The employee handbook contains information about Kern County policies and procedures related to personnel. The employee handbook is used to bring together employment and job-related information which employees need to know, such as working arrangements, benefits, and leave provisions.
